Meet the owners of Westside Inn, Larry & Maxine Scarborough Thomasson.

Maxine’s family was from Avon (Kinnakeet), but settled in Manteo where she graduated from Manteo High School. Larry was from Bassett, VA and went to Virginia Tech as part of the Corps of Cadets. They met in VA Beach where Maxine was teaching and were married at Mt. Olivet UMC in Manteo. They lived in many countries during Larry's 35 years with the U.S. Foreign Agriculture Service.  Upon retirement they returned to Maxine's beloved Manteo with all her extended family and purchased Westside Inn. Over the decades they lived at Westside and enjoyed countless memories with their three daughters, son-in-laws and nine grandchildren.  In 2016 they moved to northern Virginia to be close to their daughters and families.

Since that time they made a decision to open their home for others to enjoy. Initially they only offered Westside as a vacation rental but after their first grandson held his wedding reception there they decided to expand Westside's reach with the help of their daughters to offer weddings and events and the response has been humbling. They are thrilled to see so many couples and families enjoying the property they loved and cared for so many years!
